NCAA: 10th assistant approved for January

The NCAA's Division I Council on Friday approved legislation allowing for a 10th assistant coach -- with a catch. According to an NCAA spokesperson, the 10th assistant will have to wait until January 9, 2018.

Waiting until January was seen as a compromise effort for head coaches fearful of having their staffs raided in April, as the rule was originally written for immediate implementation.

We'll have more details as they become available.
