Nebraska reportedly adding a top young SEC assistant to staff (Nebraska)

Daikiel Shorts and Dana Holgorsen previously worked together at Houston, and are now set to reunite.

According to multiple reports today, Shorts is set to leave Kentucky to join the Nebraska staff as receivers coach.

There, he reunites with Holgorsen, who just yesterday inked a two-year deal to call the Huskers offense for Matt Rhule at $1.2 million per year.

A former 30 Under 30 selection by the AFCA, Shorts spent the last season in Lexington working with the Wildcats receivers.

The two years prior, he worked under Dana Holgorsen in an on-field role working with the receivers, a role he was elevated to after two seasons as director of player development for the program.

Before joining the coaching ranks, Shorts played receiver for Holgorsen at West Virginia, where he was a team captain his senior season. He led the Mountaineers in receiving in three of his four seasons with the team.
