Nevada expected to tab Jeff Choate as their new head coach

Nevada is poised to add a coordinator from a College Football Playoff team as their new head coach.

Texas co-defensive coordinator / linebackers coach Jeff Choate is expected to be the new head coach for the Wolf Pack, Matt Zenitz shares tonight.

Choate was also a finalist for the job prior to the 2022 season when it went to Ken Wilson, who was recently let go after back-to-back 2-10 seasons.

An veteran college coach, Choate spent four seasons as the head coach at Montana State, leading them to two FCS playoff appearances in his final two seasons with the team, including a loss in the national semis in 2019. He put together a 19-9 record his last two seasons with the Bobcats.

Prior to that, he spent time as an assistant and coordinating special teams at Washington, Florida, Boise State and Eastern Illinois.
