Today, New Mexico announced that offensive line coach / run game coordinator Saga Tuitele will again serve as the team's acting head coach as the Lobos get set to take on rival New Mexico State. You may remember that Bob Davie had a heart incident after their win over Sam Houston State that required immediate medical attention, and Davie shared recently that he's lucky to be alive.
As for a timeline for his return, Davie recently shared that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, he plans to resume his coaching duties for the Lobos game next weekend, September 28th, against Liberty - where, ironically enough, Hugh Freeze has been battling health issues of his own.
While Davie continues to recover from that health scare, he has recently been able to hold a few meetings with the media as he continues on the path of a full recovery.
Davie was unable to make the trip to South Bend last weekend, in what would have been a nice homecoming trip after leading the program from 1997-2001.
Join us in continuing to send prayers for coach Davie as he continues his road to a full recovery, and stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
