Earlier today the NFL and NFL films made their final decision on who will be the subject of the hit HBO series Hard Knocks a year after the Lions used the momentum from the series to build excitement in the Motor City to levels that haven't been seen in decades into an equally exciting on-field product.
The league's criteria to be eligible for the show eliminates teams with first-year head coaches, teams who qualified for the playoffs in the past two seasons, and teams that have already been featured on the show in the past decade.
That criteria left four teams possible: the New York Jets, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints and Washington Commanders.
One of those teams has a storyline that has already dominated headlines this off season, as the Jets acquired future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers in hopes of ending the NFL's current longest playoff drought, which currently sits at 12 seasons.
Second year Jets head coach Robert Saleh brushed off the speculation earlier this off season that his team could be chosen, stating "I know there's several teams that would love for 'Hard Knocks' to be in their building, but we're just not one of them."
Despite Saleh's best efforts to send the cameras anywhere but their facility, the Jets were chosen as the team that will be featured in this year's Hard Knocks.
No word yet on when the series will premier this fall, but the series has typically started in August with episodes normally airing late on Tuesday nights.
With Rodgers in the Big Apple to mentor young and promising fellow quarterback Zach Wilson, combined with some young talent on the roster, key additions like Mecole Hardman and a host of unsigned and late round draft picks always fighting to make the roster and become the latest Hard Knocks version of Detroit's Malcolm Rodriguez that everyone is cheering for, this year's version of the show could shape up to be a fun one to watch.
