NFLPA releases annual franchise, coaches report card (josh mcdaniels)

Introduced last year, the NFLPA on Wednesday released its second edition of its Team Report Cards.

Purposefully released just before free agency opens on March 13, the NFLPA asks players to grade their respective teams in 11 categories: treatment of families; food/cafeteria; nutrition/dietician; locker room; training room; training staff; weight room; strength coaches; team travel; head coach; and owner.

The survey released some, uh, revealing factoids -- like the Chargers living up to their name by charging players for off-site daycare, or Chiefs players returning from their Super Bowl run to learn their promised new locker room was actually just some new chairs to replace their old barstools.

In fact, the 2-time defending champions ranked only above the sad-sack Washington Commanders in their overall treatment of players, prompting a statement by owner Clark Hunt (rated 32nd of 32 owners).

“There was a question asked at the press conference about the practice facility and it is certainly a high priority for us," he said at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Here is how NFLPA membership ranked all 32 teams:

1. Miami Dolphins
2. Minnesota Vikings
3. Green Bay Packers
4. Philadelphia Eagles
5. Jacksonville Jaguars
6. San Francisco 49ers
7. Houston Texans
8. New York Giants
9. Las Vegas Raiders
10. Chicago Bears

Head coaches were ranked on how efficiently they utilized players' time and how willing they are to listen to the locker room.

It should be noted that players were only asked to grade their own head coaches against the given criteria, not rank their coaches against each other. In total, players held a generally positive view of NFL head coaches: 18 of the 32 received at least an A-minus, 29 garnered at least a B-minus, and only Josh McDaniels earned a D.
