Rob Snyder, a former LSU walk-on player, is coming home.
Snyder, who played at LSU a decade ago and also served as a student coach and analyst in the Tigers program, is returning to Louisiana to coach the defensive line at FCS program Nicholls State.
Snyder joins the staff of veteran Nicholls State head coach Tim Rebowe, who in nearly a decade at the helm has set several school records including a trio of Southland Conference titles and four FCS Playoffs appearances since 2017.
Most recently, Snyder spent the 2023 season as the defensive line coach at South Dakota, which upset then-No. 2 North Dakota State during the season and advanced into the second round of the FCS Playoffs.
Snyder also has prep coaching experience in Louisiana, where he served as defensive coordinator at Holy Cross in New Orleans and as a defensive assistant prior to that at Jesuit.
Snyder's Power 5 experience includes multiple seasons as an analyst at LSU, as well as in a similar role at the University of Missouri, helping coach the Tigers's defensive ends.
Nicholls State, on the heels of its 2023 Southland Conference title and FCS Playoffs berth, opens the 2024 campaign Aug. 31 at Louisiana Tech.
