It's been an open secret/unconfirmed fact that Alabama wants to hire former Tennessee head coach Butch Jones for weeks now. And now it seems like, barring an unforeseen setback, it's going to happen.
Tuesday was Pro Day in Tuscaloosa, and Nick Saban had this to say on the subject to AL.com:
"I don't know where that is," Saban said Wednesday. "We have issues that we need to go through to be able to hire somebody from another school. I haven't gotten a report on where that is right now. We are interested in him being a part of our staff."
And then there is this piece of visual evidence.
I suppose it's possible that Saban could confirm Alabama's interest in hiring Jones, Jones could appear at a highly-covered official Alabama event in Tide gear and not end up a part of Alabama's staff, but it seems highly unlikely.
