North Dakota State and head coach Matt Entz had been fortunate when it came to staff continuity the last several years, but this past coaching cycle they've lost some key pieces to their staff.
According to a report today, they're replacing a coach on defense with an impressive candidate that has multiple Power Five stops.
Pete Thamel tweets today that NDSU is set to hire Jeff Phelps as their new defensive line coach.
Phelps spent the last three seasons on staff at Mississippi State.
He previously coached the defensive lines at Washington State from 2017-19 and at Minnesota from 2011-16.
Phelps will join a new-look Bison defensive staff after defensive coordinator David Braun left for the same position at Northwestern this off season. A few weeks after Braun's departure, NDSU named Jason Petrino the team's new defensive play caller.
