LaMarcus Hicks played football at its highest levels -- a Power-5 career at Iowa State and multiple seasons in the NFL with the Detroit Lions.
Now Hicks is continuing an ascendant coaching career, too.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Hicks is finalizing a deal to become the cornerbacks coach for Pat Fitzgerald at Northwestern.
Hicks, who spent the past year on Blake Anderson's Utah State staff, has verbally agreed to accept the opportunity, multiple sources told FootballScoop. Pete Thamel also shared that Hicks was set to join the Northwestern staff.
Hicks has coached at Eastern Michigan, Bowling Green and Jackson State -- in HIcks' home state of Mississippi.
Northwestern won its first game of the 2022 season, against Nebraska in Ireland, and then finished the year on an 11-game skid.
The Wildcats open 2023 on the road at Rutgers Sept. 2.
