Most of us can remember the days growing up, collecting football or baseball cards, and dreaming that one day we'd see ourselves on those same cards.
Well Notre Dame is bringing that nostalgic sentiment back by using trading cards as part of their recruiting pitch in their mailings to some of their top commits.
The front of the card is a well designed ode to the history and tradition of Notre Dame, featuring lots of gold as this example of North Allegheny HS (PA) offensive tackle Josh Lugg, one of the top offensive lineman in the country.

The back of the card is what is really going to captivate the attention of high schoolers, as the staffers in South Bend got creative by listing the recruit's ESPN ranking, the unique traits that they bring to the team, and how they made their debut for the Fighting Irish.

For example, this one on Josh Lugg says:
"As an immediate impact player, Lugg played in all 12 regular season games. He made his Irish debut in the 42-15 victory over Texas, recording three pancake blocks and no quarterbacks sacks allowed, garnering national attention from scouts."
Then it sets the stage for him as a senior, which guys are going to really love.
"In the last season of his career with the Irish, Lugg won the Outland Trophy before declaring for the 2020 NFL Draft. He earned his Bachelor's degree from the Mendoza College of Business with a degree in Marketing."
What kid isn't going to love opening some mail and seeing that? It's really a creative, and fresh way to say what the coaching staff loves about a kid, and what they see his ceiling as, in a manner that is sure to demand his attention.
Nice work Notre Dame.
