Ohio State making another internal promotion at offensive coordinator (Kennan Bailey)

After elevating Brian Hartline from co-offensive coordinator to lead play-caller following Chip Kelly's departure, Ryan Day is set to make another internal promotion to co-offensive coordinator.

Day is promoting tight ends coach Keenan Bailey to co-offensive coordinator, ESPN's Pete Thamel reported Monday.

The 2025 campaign will be Bailey's 10th at Ohio State. A Notre Dame graduate, Bailey joined the program in 2016 as an offensive intern working with the running backs.

He remained an intern in 2017-18 working with the wide receivers, then was promoted to an offensive quality control working with the quarterbacks from 2019-21.

Bailey then spent 2022 as a special assistant to the head coach and a quality control working with the offensive line.

In 2023, Bailey finally moved to the on-field coaching staff and completed the cycle of position groups when he was promoted to tight ends coach. Sharing touches with the most dynamic wide receiving corps in the sport, Cade Stover tied for second with 41 receptions in 2023, and Gee Scott, Jr., tied for fourth on the club with 27 grabs for the national champions.

Bailey will work alongside new offensive line coach and run game coordinator Tyler Bowen in supporting coordinator Hartline. A former NFL receiver and the most accomplished recruiter and position coach in college football today, Hartline was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2023, demoted to co-coordinator upon Kelly's hiring, and now re-promoted to offensive coordinator as the Buckeyes begin their title defense.
