After Northwestern used a incredible third quarter and strong second half to mount a comeback win over Utah, Pat Fitzgerald was asked about recent rumors linking him to the opening with the Green Bay Packers.
Packers CEO Mark Murphy promoted Fitz to the head coaching post at Northwestern while serving as the athletic director back in 2006.
Fitz, who led the program to their first Big Ten title game this season and finished 8-5 after the bowl win, was asked about those Packers rumors while accepting the team’s trophy and put them all to rest.
“Hashtag Go Cats man. I’m not going anywhere. This is home forever.”
That sure sounds like a man who’s staying at Northwestern folks…and that’s not a surprise to most.
