Penn State's John Scott reportedly leaving for job with Lions

The Detroit Lions are reportedly set to fill a role on their staff with a Big Ten assistant.

Penn State defensive line coach John Scott Jr. is leaving for a position with the Detroit Lions, according to multiple reports.

Scott added the title and responsibilities of run game coordinator heading into the 2022 season.

James Franklin took to Twitter to bid farewell to his assistant coach recently, without sharing where exactly Scott was heading.

Scott spent the past three seasons on the Nittany Lion staff, and previously worked at South Carolina, Arkansas, Texas Tech, and Georgia Southern, with a stop in the NFL with the New York Jets for a few seasons as well.

While his exact role in Detroit has not been shared, a spot on Dan Campbell's defensive staff recently opened up following the departure of defensive line coach Todd Walsh for a job on the Panther staff, and Scott
