White helmets were once the norm, but now it’s a lot tougher to rattle off college football programs who wear a white lid.

Well Michigan State has added a new icy white look, and their game September 9th against Western Michigan will mark the first time that the Spartans take the field with a white helmet since 1954.

The new alternate lid basically replaces the green parts with white, and white with green for a clean, classic look coupled with the white facemask. The Spartans have had alternate helmets (and unis) every season the past few years, but I could see this one being a fan favorite.

The Spartans will also be pairing their white jerseys with white pants for the white head-to-toe look.
