Purdue unveils moon landing helmets

We, as a nation and a species, celebrated the 50th anniversary of the moon landing this year, which happened July 20, 1969. The first steps by a human being on the moon (that we can prove, at least) were taken by Neil Armstrong, who went to Purdue.

After teasing their fans with two short glimpses...

... Purdue finally produced a (brief) look at the full lid on Monday.

The helmets have been pretty thoroughly trolled by UCF fans, who apparently invented and trademarked the idea of putting the lunar surface on a helmet decal back in 2017.

Lunar elements aside, the best part of the helmet is the white lid with the chromatic gold face masks. That's a look Purdue should keep wearing until the 100th lunar anniversary.

Jeff Brohm and company will look to make a giant leap into the win column against Maryland on Saturday (noon ET, BTN).
