The San Diego Chargers have released renderings of their new stadium plans.

The Chargers point out their website that:

"This is a conceptual design intended to convey the Chargers’ vision for what the stadium and convention center expansion could look like. The final design will be the result of a design process conducted with the Joint Powers Authority, the City or other governmental entity designated by the City to coordinate the construction of the stadium and convention center expansion, if the Initiative is approved by the voters."

By all accounts, the renderings look pretty impressive, but many fans are wondering why you'd put a roof on a stadium in a city that has nice weather year round like San Diego? Other than that detail, the renderings look great. The proposed new home of the franchise will also double as a convention center.

Over the weekend, the Chargers will work on getting signatures for a "citizens initiative" to get public help in making these renderings a reality in downtown San Diego according to Yahoo!. The piece also points out that the biggest hurdle facing the stadium is getting the financial backing, in large part because fans don't normally forget when you flirt with leaving town for Los Angeles.
