Report: A boycott led by coaches could be brewing in The Spring League (Featured)

According to the XFL News Hub, The Spring League could be facing a boycott organized by the coaches of the league.

The report shares that the league, which has three games scheduled this week, and CEO Brian Woods has failed to pay most of the league's coaches for the last two weeks and over the last few days coaches have gotten together to discuss a potential unified walkout.

Many of the head coaches of the league are recognizable names in the coaching profession from former Oilers and Falcons head coach Jerry Glanville to former Rutgers head coach Terry Shea and former Colorado State head coach Steve Fairchild.

The league is currently in the third week of a four week season and their games, some of which have featured matchups between former college stars like former Buckeye quarterback JT Barrett and former Wolverine quarterback Shea Patterson, air on Fox Sports 1.

You may recall from our piece on The Spring League a week or so ago that players have to pay a $2,100 fee to participate in the league that has been billed as a stepping stone to make an NFL roster. Based on that figure, player fees alone should total more than half-a-million dollars, so a model that charges players (and provides food and housing) instead of paying them should logically have the money to pay for coaches.

However, TSL CEO Brian Woods doesn't have the best reputation in the football community after the Fall Experimental Football League (FXFL), a prior startup league he tried to form. That one failed after many coaches complained of being paid well under what they told they'd make, or weren't paid at all.

The Spring League's financial problems and perceived inability to pay their employees are far from the first startup league that has had financial problems, that list is long and is why there is so much skepticism every time a new league starts up, so the news of a new league being unable to pay coaches will come as a surprise to very few folks.
