Report: Bob Stoops not a candidate at Florida State
Florida State has been in contact with Bob Stoops' camp but the future Hall of Fame Oklahoma coach is not a candidate for the Seminoles' job, according to a report Friday from the Tallahassee Democrat.
This tracks with the words of the man himself, who told reporters earlier this month -- after Stoops had become the apparent front-runner for the job, to the surprise of Stoops himself -- that he was not a candidate.
It's been a matter of speculation as to if and when Stoops will return to football in a full-time capacity, dating back to the moment he abruptly stepped down in the summer of 2017.
The 59-year-old is the head coach and general manager of the XFL's Dallas Renegades; taking that part-time job has only fueled speculation when Stoops will return full-time, either at the college or pro level.
As FootballScoop detailed earlier this week, the Florida State search is being helmed by Glenn Sugiyama of DHR International, and interviews are very much ongoing.
