Financial terms were not disclosed. Fritz earned $1.6 million in 2019 according to the USA Today coaching salary database, which ranked eighth in the American.
Fritz, 60, is 24-27 in four seasons at Tulane and 15-12 in his last two. He is 178-96 in 24 seasons as a head coach, dating back to 1997 at Central Missouri.
The extension will keep Fritz under contract through his 66th birthday and his 11th season at Tulane.
Tulane began its season with a 27-24 win at South Alabama on Saturday. The Green Wave hosts Navy on Saturday (noon ET, ABC).
