Reports: Former FBS defensive coordinator joining Dan Mullen's support staff at Florida (Featured)

According to multiple reports, Chuck Heater is joining Dan Mullen's Florida staff in a quality control role.

Heater, who previously served as the defensive coordinator at Marshall from 2013-17, spent 2005-2010 in Gainesville on Urban Meyer's staff. He started as the corners coach and recruiting coordinator for a few seasons before moving adding assistant and co-defensive coordinator duties from 2008-10.

Before joining Urban at Florida, Heater worked with him for one season at Utah in 2004.

After leaving Marshall following the 2017 season, Heater landed at Maryland coaching the safeties, where he spent 2018.

In Heater, Mullen is not only getting a guy he's worked with in the past, but also one that has spent over four decades in college football with rare experience in major college football on both sides of the ball. In addition to being a defensive coordinator at Colorado State, Marshall, Temple, and having the co-coordinator title at Florida, Heater has also coached the running backs and tight ends at stops at Colorado, Washington, Toledo and Northern Arizona during his career.
