Matt Wells will return at Texas Tech, but makes staff changes
After rumors swirled surrounding boosters making a push for Art Briles over the weekend, multiple reports share that Texas Tech will retain Matt Wells for a third season in Lubbock.
Ironically, the news comes just as word breaks that Briles resigned from his post as the head coach at Mount Vernon HS (TX).
Staff changes are being made on the offensive side of the ball, as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach David Yost has been let go.
Wells is 8-14 in two seasons leading the Red Raiders. He went 4-8 in 2019 and 4-6 this season.
He was hired away from Utah State, where he went 44-34 over six seasons.
When hired in December of 2018, Wells inked a six-year deal worth $18.8 million to lead the program.
