Rhett Lashlee new offensive coordinator at Miami (FL) (SMU)

Saturday Update> The Canes have now announced the hire, pending background search.

Friday original article:

According to a report this evening from Barry Jackson, Miami will name SMU offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Rhett Lashlee as their new offensive coordinator "barring an unforeseen circumstances."

We can confirm that Lashlee has been a top target of Manny Diaz during the search.

Sources tell us to expect Lashlee to bring SMU offensive quality control coach Jonathan Brewer with him.

Lashlee had been a longtime right-hand man of Gus Malzahm, working with him at number of stops including Auburn (twice), and Arkansas State. In 2017 he broke out on his own to become the offensive coordinator at UConn and heading into 2018 he became the offensive coordinator for Sonny Dykes at SMU.

He takes over for Dan Enos, who was let go after one disappointing season. After Enos' dismissal, Diaz shared that he has been looking for someone to "dramatically" transform the U's offense.
