SMU has announced a contract extension for head coach Rhett Lashlee.
The Mustangs, in their first season as a member of the ACC, are currently 9-1 and in position to play in the ACC title game under Lashlee and his staff.
He is 27-10 and in his third season as a head coach with the program, and has gone an impressive 20-4 over the last two seasons.
Terms of the extension have not yet been shared, but we will update as they become available.
It marks the second straight season Lashlee has inked an extension.
Last November, after an 11-3 campaign and conference title in the American Athletic Conference, SMU announced a multi-year extension ahead of the move to the ACC.
Missing salary figures for private institutions like Duke (Manny Diaz), Boston College (Bill O'Brien) and Stanford (Troy Taylor) as well as Syracuse (Fran Brown), Lashlee was the lowest paid coach in the ACC last year at just over $2.36 million annually while the league's highest paid coaches (Mike Norvell - $10 million, and Dabo Swinney (over $11 million) made over four times what Lashlee did. UNC's Mack Brown sits in the middle of ACC coaches pay at $5 million annually.

Update: Brandon Marcello reports Lashlee's extension runs through 2030. Financial terms still have not been disclosed.
