While breaking down some practice film in a team meeting, head Geoff Collins was briefly distracted by a cell phone going off.
"What is that? What is that! Who's got a phone?" Collins asked, a bit irritated.
An assistant coach handed him the phone, and that's when you can sense something is up. On the other end of the phone seems to be a female voice.
"It's actually perfect timing. We're sitting in a team meeting right now, and we've got the whole team sitting here, and I just wanted to let you know..." Collins then asks a player to leave the front row and join him at the front of the room. "I just wanted to let you know that your son is on full scholarship."
The room goes nuts for their teammate Rob Ritrovato, and Collins stays on the phone to make sure the mother can hear how excited her son's teammates are to hear that he's now on full scholarship.
After hanging up, Collins tells the team that Rob is "everything that this program is all about. He's unselfish. He works hard. He does great in school. He does what he's supposed to do on the field, and he does what he's supposed to do off the field. If you do that. You get rewarded."
