For those that have come to genuinely enjoy seeing hard-working walk-ons get awarded with scholarships (and who doesn’t!?!), you’re going to really enjoy this moment from a recent Utah team meeting.
At the front of the room, Kyle Whittingham addresses the team by pointing out some admirable characteristics of one of their teammates, without immediately naming who he was talking about at first. But then he says “…Paul Toala,” and the room goes nuts.
All that is great, but then the feels go to the next level when Toala gets the opportunity to talk to his teammates.
Fighting back tears, Toala explains, “Last year, I came up here and introduced myself and I told you guys about my mom and how she passed away while I was on my mission…”
Then Toala puts his fist in the air, and pounds his chest as he proudly says, “We did it mom.”
With that, the team went nuts again before Toala went on to thank his teammates and coaches for making him better.
This is good stuff.
.@UtahCoachWhitt‘s favorite part of his job? Awarding scholarships.
