Scott Maxfield has announced his retirement at Henderson State (scott maxfield)

After nearly two decades leading the Henderson State (D-II - AR) program, head coach Scott Maxfield has announced his retirement.

Maxfield took the Henderson State job after head coaching stints at Pearl River CC (JC - CA) and Blinn (JC - TX) back in 2005, taking over a program without a rich tradition and developing into one of the most respected teams in the region.

With the Reddies, Maxfield won a program record 134 games, and captured four conference titles and punched their ticket to the Division II playoffs four times as well.

Maxfield led the program to eight-plus win seasons ten different times and won double-digit games in 2012, 2013 and 2015.

As members of the Great American Conference, Maxfield led the program to remarkable road winning streak that saw them not drop an away game from  2011 to 2017.

He closes his career with a head coaching record of 163-77, including a 134-65 record in Arkadelphia.

Assistant head coach and defensive coordinator Greg Holsworth, who has been with the program since 2017, has been immediately elevated to the head coaching role.

In addition to his coaching roles, Holsworth has overseen all of the team's recruiting and strength and conditioning efforts as well.

He takes the reigns as the Reddies are coming off a 9-win campaign in 2023.
