After two seasons of unprecedented success at New Mexico State, Jerry Kill decided to step away recently.
While Kill felt like he couldn't lead a program the way he felt like he needed to, coaches have recognized the value he brings to a program and he has quickly been lured to help somewhere each time he's been available.
This time appears to be no different.
According to a report from Pete Thamel today, Vanderbilt is in the process of hiring the veteran college coach to a role on the staff.
The report adds that the role is expected to be an off-field consulting position where he will work alongside head coach Clark Lea and new offensive coordinator Tim Beck.
