Seth Littrell will not return as Oklahoma offensive coordinator (Seth Littrell)

Update >> The school has announced the move.

Joe Jon Finely and Kevin Johns will serve as co-coordinators with Finley calling the plays and Johns taking over the quarterbacks duties.

Brent Venables and Oklahoma have reportedly made the decision to part ways with offensive coordinator Seth Littrell.

SoonerScoop was the first to report the move. Other local outlets in Norman have quickly followed up to share the same.

The decision comes just seven games into his tenure, and the day after the Sooners lost a 35-9 game to South Carolina.

A hire that was initially applauded by many, Littrell had joined the staff back in March of 2023 as an analyst after a seven-year run as the head coach at North Texas. he led the Mean Green to a 44-44 mark and six bowl games during that span, including back-to-back 9-win seasons in 2017 and 2018. Littrell lost five of those bowl games, and was dismissed before coaching in the 2022 Frisco Bowl.

The former Sooner fullback, who previously held the offensive coordinator role at Arizona, Indiana, and North Carolina, was elevated to the offensive coordinator job following the departure of Jeff Lebby to become the head coach at Mississippi State.

The Sooners have struggled to a degree we haven't seen in decades in Norman though this season. They currently rank 107th in scoring offense and are 128th out of 134 teams in total offense.

Multiple outlets share that co-offensive coordinator Joe Jon Finley will step in as the new play caller for the season, and former Duke offensive coordinator Kevin Johns (now an offensive analyst on the staff) will have a more significant role moving forward.

It becomes the second Power Four offensive coordinator move of the season, following the dismissal of Graham Harrell at Purdue.
