Update> Source tells FootballScoop the info about Art Briles was incorrect. Bobby Petrino will be the new head coach.

Original article>

Source tells FootballScoop this evening that Missouri State (FCS) plans to announce Art Briles as their new head coach tomorrow.

Briles, the long-time Baylor head coach, coached Mount Vernon High School (TX) this past season.

Missouri State announced last week they were parting ways with head coach Dave Steckel and it was rumored at the time they believed they could land a prominent head coach. At the time, the whisper was they might target highly successful Northwest Missouri head coach Rich Wright; but it appears the Bears are going bigger.

Missouri Valley competes in the ultra-competitve Missouri Valley Conference (with North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Illinois State, South Dakota State, Youngstown State, etc…).

We are told the announcement should be made tomorrow morning.

As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest coaching job information.

Well, this is something. Just about the same time we reported Briles was the hire, a local report has emerged saying it is expected to be Bobby Petrino. Will update in the morning.
