Per source, Hawaii intends to make Nevada offensive coordinator Nick Rolovich their next head coach.

Rolovich, who played quarterback at Hawaii, has served as offensive coordinator at Nevada the past four seasons. Prior to coming to Nevada, Rolo coached the quarterbacks and served as offensive coordinator at Hawaii pretty much since his playing days ended in 2001.

Considered a players’ coach, part of Rolo’s appeal has to be his ability to connect with the players, alumni and fan base. We have to believe this hire will be universally lauded by all constituents. The best way to rebuild a program is to hire someone who can rekindle the trust in players. Rolo is that guy.

Update> Hawaii has now announced the hire.
