Source: Iowa State adding longtime Big Ten offensive coordinator to staff (mick mccall)

Sources tell FootballScoop that longtime Northwestern offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mick McCall is expected to join the staff and will work with the running backs.

McCall spent a total of 12 seasons at Northwestern and was one of Pat Fitzgerald's first hires after being named head coach. But their offensive struggles this past season after finishing nearly last in scoring offense nationally prompted a change at coordinator in early December on a staff known nationally for their continuity year-to-year.

For Iowa State, McCall's addition means that offensive coordinator Tom Manning, who worked with the running backs last season, will likely shift his focus to tight ends. Manning, a loyal Matt Campbell assistant, re-joined the staff as offensive coordinator heading into 2019 after a season coaching the tight ends for the Colts.

Manning will also continue in his role as offensive coordinator.

We understand that McCall's addition could be announced as early as today.
