Joe Lorig will be Penn State’s special teams coordinator, sources told FootballScoop on Thursday.

Lorig spent the past three seasons as the special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach at Memphis. He had agreed to join Matt Wells’ new staff at Texas Tech as special teams coordinator, but will now reverse field and head to State College.

Lorig has also coordinated special teams at Arizona State and spent the 2008-11 seasons as the defensive coordinator at Central Washington.

He will replace Phil Galiano, who left to become the assistant special teams coordinator for the New Orleans Saints.

As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
