Trent Dilfer is filling some key roles on his staff with three sons of prominent coaches from around college football, sources share.
Two of the new additions come from roles they previously had in the Big Ten, and the third was at at South Alabama.
Sources tell FootballScoop Gordon Steele, Logan Tressel and Carsen Kapilovic are joining the Blazers in various support staff roles.
Gordon, the son of longtime SEC coordinator Kevin Steele, is being added to work with the offensive line after most recently coaching the offensive line at South Alabama.
Logan Tressel, the son of Mike, is joining the staff in a role where he will work closely with Trent Dilfer and chief of staff Cole Peterson in an off-field role after most recently working at Wisconsin in a recruiting role.
Lastly. Carsen Kapilovic, the son of Alabama offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic is joining the Blazers staff after a few seasons in East Lansing working in a recruiting role for the Spartans. In Birmingham, we're told he will work in the recruiting office as a scouting and recruiting coordinator.
The hires come as Dilfer heads into a critical third season at UAB, looking to book their first bowl trip. The Blazers went 4-8 his first year, followed by a disappointing 3-9 season last fall.
