A quick look at Mario Acitelli's coaching stops shows impressive stops at LSU, North Carolina and Texas.
His experience at those programs, along with the success he's had leading the offensive line at William & Mary (FCS - VA) in his two stops with the program learning under AFCA Assistant Coach of the Year Christian Taylor have prepared him for his next challenge.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Acitelli is being promoted to offensive coordinator for the program.
Acitelli rejoined the Tribe's staff prior to the 2022 season as offensive line coach and earned a promotion to run game coordinator before last fall.
The 2022 season was a dominant one for his offensive line, as the Tribe were one of the most dominant units in FCS, leading the country in sacks allowed, and ranking among the top 3 nationally in explosive runs, rushing yards per game, and yards per carry.
Acitelli was an assistant for the Tribe from 2014-18 previously, and was a lead analyst at LSU, a special teams analyst at North Carolina, and was a graduate assistant at Texas previously. He also coordinated special teams at Elon (FCS - NC) for a season as well.
The Tribe are coming off an 11-win season and playoff run to the quarterfinals as Acitelli as he takes over for Taylor, who was recently announced as a defensive quality control coach for the Buffalo Bills after a record-setting four-season run with the program.
