There's little slowdown for new Austin Peay head coach Jeff Faris.
The former Duke player and most recently UCLA assistant Coach Faris has stormed at a frenetic pace since he landed his first collegiate head coaching job as replacement to Scotty Walden after UTEP hired away Walden.
Faris, back in the office Tuesday for the FCS Austin Peay program, has nabbed a key figure for a top off-the-field role, several sources told FootballScoop.
Luke Haker, who most recently was Marshall football's No. 2 figure off the field under Charles Huff, has left the private sector and returned to college football as the Governors's first chief of staff, sources told FootballScoop.
Haker worked four seasons of undergraduate duties in football operations at SEC program Mississippi State; he also had three years of internships with the NFL's Cleveland Browns in operations.
For the 2021-22 seasons, Haker was Marshall's assistant director of football operations. He worked closely under both Huff and well-regarded Marshall Chief of Staff Sharrod Everett.
Faris has largely filled out his inaugural Austin Peay staff, which also includes former Furman offensive coordinator and ETSU head coach George Quarles as an offensive assistant.
The Govs are set to open their 2024 season Aug. 31 at ACC runner-up Louisville, which just closed a 10-win debut season under Jeff Brohm.
