Sources: Big Ten program losing key staffer to Miami Dolphins (rob everett)

Rob Everett was a defensive coordinator at the Division III level just a handful of seasons ago in 2018.

Now, he's heading for a spot on staff working with one of the brightest offensive coaches in the game as a part of an NFL staff.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Everett has left the offensive staff at Wisconsin and accepted an offensive assistant position with the Miami Dolphins.

Everett spent the past two seasons as a trusted analyst for Phil Longo on the offensive side of the ball.

The two logged a season together at North Carolina before Everett followed Longo to Madison last year to join Luke Fickell's staff.

He held the title of senior offensive analyst for the Badgers, where in addition to working with the Wisconsin quarterbacks, he worked on opponent breakdowns, scouting reports and leading edge football technology.

A longtime high school coach, Everett has an extensive background on the defensive side of the ball, winning a state title as a defensive coordinator in Virginia while allowing just under 13 points per game at Westfield HS in 2015.

He also spent a few seasons as the defensive coordinator at Bridgewater College (D-III - VA) where he orchestrated the league's top defense in a number of categories.

In 2019 he served as tight ends coach and assistant to the defensive coordinator for the Memphis Express of the Alliance of American Football.

Before joining the Tar Heels staff, Everett spent some time with HigherEchelon, a training and consulting program where he worked on 3D simulation training, tackling analytics, and process efficiency.

We're told that Wisconsin already has new staff in place and aren't looking to fill openings related to this move.
