Sources: Blake Anderson targeting ACC co-coordinator to run Utah State defense (Featured)

Blake Anderson is targeting Miami's Ephraim Banda to become the Utah State defensive coordinator, sources tell FootballScoop.

Sources tell FootballScoop no deal is in place at this time.

Banda is currently the co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach at Miami, where he has coached the past five seasons.

A longtime disciple of Manny Diaz, Banda began working under him as a graduate assistant at Texas and then joined Diaz as a defensive assistant for the 2015 season at Mississippi State.

Defenses on which Banda has worked have ranked among the top 13 nationally in yards per play allowed five times in the last seven seasons.

Banda would inherit a defense that ranked 110th in yards per play, 122nd in total defense, 124th in scoring and 123rd in passing efficiency in 2020. The Aggies went 1-5 this fall.

As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
