Sources: Bobby Wilder continues strong staff assembly at Tennessee Tech, hiring Wake Forest staffer (Chase Mummau)

Bobby Wilder is systematically putting together quite the first-year staff at Tennessee Tech.

Wilder, the former Old Dominion head coach and longtime collegiate veteran, is snagging another staffer from Dave Clawson's highly regarded Wake Forest staff, sources tell FootballScoop Friday.

After recently hiring Greg Jones to run the Golden Eagles defense, Wilder and Jones now are adding Chase Mummau as Tennessee Tech's safeties coach, per sources with direct knowledge of the situation.

A Virginia Tech graduate and former Hokies quarterback, Mummau has spent the last three seasons on staff at Wake Forest.

Initially in the recruiting department for the Demon Deacons, Mummau quickly was elevated into a defensive quality control role and assisted with the program's secondary in that position, where he also worked with Jones.

The former special teams contributor and backup quarterback for the Hokies Mummau is a 26-year-old native of Mechanicsville, Virginia.

Tennessee Tech is set for a pair of difficult challenges against FBS opposition this fall in Wilder's first two games at the helm. The Golden Eagles face Derek Mason and MTSU Aug. 31 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, before traveling the ensuing week to face Kirby Smart's powerhouse Georgia Bulldogs between the hedges.

The Golden Eagles make their home debut under Wilder Sept. 21 against Eddie George's Tennessee State Tigers.
