Sources: Brian Ward expected to be named defensive coordinator... (Nevada)

Sources tell FootballScoop former Syracuse defensive coordinator Brian Ward is expected to be named defensive coordinator at Nevada.

Jay Norvell fired Jeff Casteel in early December. Casteel had served as his defensive coordinator all three seasons Norvell has served as head coach.

Ward is considered one of the more impressive up and coming defensive coordinators in the FBS ranks.

After serving as head coach at his alma mater McPherson College (2007-09), Ward moved on to coach defensive backs at North Dakota State for one season. He was then presented with the opportunity to become defensive coordinator at Drake University. The following year Western Illinois offered him the same position, where he served through the 2014 season. In 2015, Dino Babers hired Ward to be his defensive coordinator at Eastern Illinois. He then went with Babers, in the same capacity, to Syracuse in 2016, where he served until this past season.

Sources tell FootballScoop the hire is expected to be announced this weekend.
