Sources: Butch Jones' makes another key hire from P5 ranks (rob harley)

Another key hire is being made by Butch Jones at Arkansas State, and it's a big one.

Jones is again dipping into the Power-5 Conference ranks to fill a key spot on his inaugural Red Wolves staff, pulling Rob Harley away from Pat Narduzzi and the Pitt Panthers, multiple sources confirmed today to FootballScoop.

Harley's been serving as the Panthers' linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator, but his name resonates as an bright young defensive coach on the rise.

Harley's been the Panthers' recruiting coordinator for the past four years and on staff at Pitt for six years.

An Ohio State grad, Harley's been around some keen defensive minds in shaping his career, including Narduzzi at Pitt as well as Josh Conklin, both at Florida International and Pitt, where Conklin, now the head coach at Wofford, served in both programs as defensive coordinator.

Jones' initial Arkansas State staff now includes some colleagues from Alabama, both Matt Wilson and Jon Shalala from Mississippi State, both of whom previously worked with Jones at Tennessee, and Derrick Lett from Yale, among others. It's rounding into one of the deepest Group of 5 staffs in terms of Power-5 coaching experience.

As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest coaching news.
