On December 4th, Marshall was undefeated. Doc Holliday was on his way to his way to his 7th season in the past 8 years of at least 8 wins (at Marshall).
Then, 2020 / Covid / whatever happened, and the Thundering Herd stumbled home, losing their final three games, finishing 7-2 in the regular season, and then lost to Lance Leipold's Buffalo squad in their bowl game.
Doc Holliday's tenure ended. 68 wins in the last 8 seasons.
Today, Charles Huff was introduced as the new face of the Thundering Herd.
Marshall's defense finished the season with the number one scoring defense in the country (allowing a paltry average of 13 points per game).
Defensive coordinator Brad Lambert, the other finalist, is on his way to Purdue where he will serve as co-defensive coordinator.
Today, a lot of staff changes came to fruition.
Sources tell FootballScoop the entire remaining defensive staff is being let go. Co-defensive coordinator / defensive tackles JC Price, defensive ends coach Cornell Brown, linebackers coach / special teams coordinator Jordon Hankins and corners coach Patrick Bastien have all been released.
Additionally, co-special teams coordinator / tight ends coach Kyle Segler also has been released.
Will update when more is clear on the offensive staff.
As always stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest coaching news.
