Sources: Chuck Martin adjusts Miami (Ohio) staff, finds new coordinator
Chuck Martin has made several adjustments to his Miami (Ohio) staff, led by the elevation of a new offensive coordinator.
Sources told FootballScoop on Monday that tight ends coach Patrick Welsh has been promoted to offensive coordinator. He replaces Eric Koehler, who took an analyst role at Minnesota. This season will be Welsh's 10th at Miami, where he's also served as recruiting coordinator in addition to tight ends coach.
With the move, Gus Ragland has rejoined the program as quarterbacks coach. Ragland was a RedHawks quarterback himself from 2014-18. As a player, Ragland overcame an ACL tear to start 21 games and earn a Third Team All-MAC nod as a senior. He previously worked as an analyst at Notre Dame.
Sources also say special teams coordinator Joe Bronowski will take on an additional role on defense. The defensive line and running back jobs remain open at this time, sources say.
