Hebron "Loni" Fangupo, who starred at BYU and had stints with multiple NFL franchises, is making another stride in his burgeoning coaching career.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Fangupo is taking the just-vacated job of defensive line coach at Idaho State, where he will join the staff of up-and-coming head coach Cody Hawkins.
Fangupo is expected to coach the defensive line for the Bengals.
Fangupo, a former Cougars star who had pro turns with the NFL's Houston Texans, Seattle Seahawks, Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs, comes to Idaho State after working at nationally acclaimed Snow College, Utah Tech and Texas Southern.
Hawkins helped Idaho State win three games in 2023 and is set to open the 2024 season Aug. 31 at Oregon State.
Fangupo completed a Mormon mission and also attended Mt. San Antonio College before he continued his career at BYU and then proceeded through his life's journey.
