Colby Carthel is adding an experienced coach with FBS time under his belt to the Stephen F. Austin football staff.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Carthel is hiring Kevon Beckwith to serve as the Lumberjacks defensive line coach.
Most recently, Beckwith spent the 2024 season on the Temple staff, where he was the interior defensive line coach for the Owls.
But Beckwith has previous experience in Texas; he spent the 2022 campaign on the Incarnate Word staff.
Additionally, Beckwith coached at Austin Peay for two years and also logged several seasons at Louisiana, his alma mater, including some time there on staff under Billy Napier.
The Lumberjacks, after a 7-5 season and just missing the FCS Playoffs, begin their 2025 slate Thursday, Aug. 28 at Houston.
