Update >> Colorado State has now announced the hire
Former Boston College head coach Steve Addazio is expected to be the new head coach at Colorado State, sources told FootballScoop on Wednesday.
In our update at Colorado State we shared earlier today, we noted that the search was trending toward Addazio after stints where Butch Jones and Kevin Wilson appeared favorites to land the job, and now we understand CSU and Addazio are expected to come to an agreement.
Here's parts of what we shared in that update:
Now, sources say former Boston College coach Steve Addazio is trending in Fort Collins. Addazio is fresh off a stint in which he went 44-44 in seven seasons in Chestnut Hill.
Addazio, as well as two other candidates in the pool that Colorado State was choosing from in Tony Alford and Kevin Wilson, are all part of Urban Meyer's coaching tree, and it's certainly no coincidence that Meyer worked as a consultant on the school's search. Addazio coached the offensive line for Urban at Florida before leaving to become the head coach at Temple, and then Boston College. Addazio holds an overall record of 57-55 as a head coach at those two stops.
Coaching the offensive lines and tight ends at Syracuse, Notre Dame, Indiana and Florida before ascending to the head coaching role, Addazio built his name as a hard-nosed guy with a no-nonsense approach.
Colorado State went 4-8 in 2018 and 28-35 in five seasons under Mike Bobo. The program plays in the 36,000-seat Canvas Stadium, which opened in 2017.
