Western Kentucky's Tyson Summers has emerged as the target at Colorado State, which sources tell FootballScoop is seeking to finalize a deal with Summers.
It would mark a return to the Rams program for Summers, who previously coached there as defensive coordinator and safeties coach in 2015. He also briefly was head coach at Georgia Southern in 2016-17.
Promoted to run the Hilltoppers defense in February 2022, Summers has helped turn around the WKU defense into one of the nation's most disruptive units.
Summers's Western Kentucky defense led the nation in takeaways with 32 in 2022; they were Conference USA's best unit with 26 takeaways in 2023.
