Colorado State is expected to dismiss AD Joe Parker, sources told FootballScoop on Monday.
Parker has run the Rams' athletics department since 2015 and worked in administration at Texas Tech, Michigan, Oklahoma, Washington State and Texas prior to that.
Colorado State has been beset by budget problems for years, crystallized in a 2023 report to the State of Colorado's Legislative Audit Committee:
Of the three Colorado DI schools, Colorado State University appears to be in the least sustainable situation. The university reported a $28.2 million athletics deficit in 2022, the highest in Colorado. Thatβs compounded by the construction of CSUβs Canvas Stadium, which opened in 2017. Direct overhead expenses, which includes bond payments on the stadium, went from about $107,000 in fiscal year 2013 to just over $14 million in fiscal year 2022.
Institutional support from CSU to make up for the athletic department deficit rose 90 percent since fiscal year 2013, from about $11 million to $20 million last year.
CSU responded to the report by saying institutional support accounted for 1.64 percent of the university's total budget.
On the football side, Parker has hired two head coaches -- Steve Addazio and Jay Norvell. Addazio went 4-12 (3-9 MW) in two seasons, and Norvell is 8-16 overall and 6-10 in conference play in his two seasons.
