Sources confirm former Miami DC Lance Guidry joining LSU staff (McNeese State)

After two seasons running the defense, Mario Cristobal made the decision to part ways with defensive coordinator Lance Guidry after the 'Canes 42-41 loss to Iowa State in the Pop Tarts Bowl back at the end of December.

Now Guidry has his landing spot, as sources confirm the veteran defensive coordinator is set to land on Brian Kelly's staff in Baton Rouge.

CBS Sports has reported the same.

Sources share that Guidry will work as an analyst on the support staff for the Tigers.

He brings both head coaching perspective and defensive coordinator experience from multiple stops, calling the defensive shots at McNeese State (FCS - LA) - where he also spent three seasons as head coach - as well as at Southeastern Louisiana (FCS) and at the major college level at Western Kentucky and Marshall before joining Cristobal's staff in Coral Gables.

Safe to say he's very familiar with the lay of the land in Louisiana and will be a great asset to Brian Kelly and his staff.

Last fall with the Hurricanes the Miami defense ranked 68th in the country, giving up just over 25 points per game, and gave up about 31 points per game against Power Four opponents.

Guidry landed the opportunity at Miami after leading a Marshall defense that ranked among the top ten in the country in 2022.

There's always a chance that someone with a resume like Guidry lands a defensive coordinator spot, but for now he's landing at LSU.
