Josh Heupel has moved swiftly to fill his open linebackers job following the departure of Brian Jean-Mary for Michigan.
Sources confirm to FootballScoop the Vols are expected to hire former Washington co-defensive coordinator William Inge to fill the linebackers job on staff.
247 is reporting the same.
As the assistant head coach for DeBoer at Washington, Inge helped lead a defensive unit to a 11-2 season and one of the most improved defenses in the country in his second season with the program, especially when it came to stopping the run.
He served as Kalen DeBoer's offensive coordinator at Fresno State, leading dramatic improvement in nearly every key defensive category during his short stint with the Bulldogs, jumping from defenses ranked 82nd or worse to top 31 defenses in his two seasons in Fresno.
Inge had been reported to be one of the latest additions to Kalen DeBoer's defensive staff in Tuscaloosa recently, but the opening in Tennessee altered those plans.
